Boxing Shoes vs. Running Shoes
Firstly, I will make a difference between these two categories of footwear. Both of these are built for two distinct Sports. So here is a brief difference:
Ankle Support:
Well, my friend, Boxing is a sport which requires a lot of support from the ankle. So, like me, those with weak ankles may also suffer in boxing shoes. Boxing shoes have great ankle support and a hard ankle portion, saving ankles from injury.
On the other hand, Running Shoes do not provide that much hardness in the ankle region. The ankle support provided by running shoes is also not enough to prevent ankles from getting injuries in Boxing.
So, investing in a Good pair of Boxing shoes is worth it.
Durability:
Boxing shoes are super durable and designed to handle all sorts of movements. You won’t believe how much these shoes can get deformed during training sessions.
Conversely, running shoes’ sides aren’t designed to handle deformations. When we run with those things, they’re not supposed to get all deformed. I feel like you can use them for a very short time. If I had to guess, you can train with them for about two months.
If you try to save money by wearing running shoes for boxing, you’ll lose money in the long run.

Sole and Traction:
Boxing shoes usually have thin, flat soles and little cushioning. The soles usually have a non-marking rubber outsole or a leather sole that gives you a good grip for fast footwork without slowing down.
On the other hand, running shoes are designed with thicker and more cushioned soles to absorb the impact when your feet hit the ground repeatedly on hard surfaces. Running shoe outsoles are designed to give you good traction when running in a straight line.
They have these deeper grooves that help you grip the ground better, especially when you’re on different types of terrain.
In conclusion, running and boxing shoes are designed to meet their respective sports’ requirements. While the soles, ankle support, and general designs of both types of shoes are created to maximize performance, they differ better to meet the specific demands of runners and boxers.
